All About Greenfields Nursery

The foundation provided by Greenfields in reading, numeracy, understanding of the world and relationship building has allowed our children to thrive when joining a leading international school in Germany.

Our Ethos
When Greenfields originally opened its doors, the nursery was very much based on using the Montessori method of teaching.

However, over the years, Lesley and the team has recognised the need to adapt this technique to incorporate the modern day teaching expectations of a nursery school. They are constantly updating & adding to the curriculum ensuring a safe, stimulating & caring environment, where physical, emotional & social skills can all be developed.

Outdoor play is a vital part of Greenfields philosophy, and the nursery is fortunate enough to have 3 safe and secure play areas.

The children also benefit from access to our outdoor learning area, including a tree house and mud kitchen.

Outstanding’ says Ofsted
During our last Ofsted visit we were delighted with their report. Ofsted said ‘The partnership with parents is outstanding. Children are very happy & flourish due to the exceptionally strong, open relationship between parents & staff.’

‘Children develop very well, have lots of fun & learn within the caring environment of the nursery, as they enjoy the wide range of activities offered.’

Our Staff
Almost all of the staff at Greenfields have been with us for several years.

We appreciate that this continuity will benefit the children, helping them build a trusting relationship which in turn will lead to a happier more confident child.

Parents & carers are outwardly encouraged to share in their children’s care & learning, developing a true partnership where parents & children feel valued & respected.

In all rooms the children have an allocated Key Worker who’s job it is to make sure that every child’s learning and care is tailored to meet their individual needs. The Key Person will endeavour to engage with, and support parents/ carers in guiding their child’s development at home. Whilst the Key Worker is the main point of contact and will be responsible for monitoring the child’s progress, all staff are encouraged to ‘know’ all the children in the room and make observations through constant discussions amongst each other.

All of the staff at Greenfields are qualified ‘First Aiders.’
